What did Holly Willoughby say about Phillip Schofield on This Morning?

Holly Willoughby was clearly very emotional as she returned to This Morning to host the ITV show with Josie Gibson. "You me, and all of us at This Morning gave our love and suppot to someone who was not telling the truth, " she said. Holly when went on to say that Phillp "acted in a way that they themeselves felt they had to resign from ITV and step down from a career that they loved. That is a lot to process."

Holly also spoke about how it has "been equally hard to see the toll it has taken on their own mental health. I think what unites us all now is a desire to heal for the health and wellbeing of everyone. I hope that as we start this new chapter and get back to a place of warmth and magic that this show holds for us all, we can find strength in each other."

At the end of her statement, a visibly upset Holly had a hug with co-presenter Josie Gibson, who then touched her hand, before telling the viewers what was coming up in the programme.

This is the first time Holly Willoughby has returned to This Morning  after taking a two week break for half-term. She was photographed recently relaxing on a beach whilst on holiday in Portugal. 

When Phillip Schofield confirmed that he had had a relationship with a younger male colleague, Holly released a statement on her Instagram Stories.

In her short statement, Holly Willoughby said the following: “When reports of this relationship first surfaced, I asked Phil directly if this was true and was told it was not.

It’s been very hurtful to now find out that this was a lie.” She also revealed that it had taken her time to “process yesterday’s news.”

Until Phillip Schofield stepped down from This Morning, Holly and Phillip had presented the show together for 14 years. When he was interviewed recently on the BBC by Amol Rajan, and was asked if he told Holly about his affair, he replied by saying, “No, oh god, no, that’s a bigger question because our make-up room was like a sanctuary so you tell everything in that room.” He then went on to say that “Holly knows everything about me. I know everything about Holly… Holly did not know. Nobody knew. I didn’t tell anybody.”

When she went on holiday to Portugal, Holly was not active on her social media. However, she did post a hair related post on her business Wylde Moon’s Instagram account. Her most recent post on Wylde Moon is about the Full Moon. The caption read: “Get ready for the Full Strawberry Moon in Sagittarius. All that glorious Saggi energy promises to create a cosmic extravaganza that’ll get your brain buzzing with excitement.”
