James Bond actor Colin Salmon has ‘shaken and stirred’ up his acting roles to be closer to home as he entered Albert Square on BBC as former boxer George Knight.

The 61-year-old Hollywood star who has appeared on the silver screen on several occasions including three of the Pierce Brosnan Bond films as Charles Robinson, and the Resident Evil franchise, exchanged the Hollywood Hills for London and the Queen Vic as he became the latest newcomer to EastEnders.

Dad of four Colin, who was born in Hackney, London, explained that he wanted to return to England’s capital to be closer to his family because his wife of 35 years is battling a lung disease.

“It’s a no-brainer. My wife’s not well and so I can’t be far from home,” Colin said, before adding that he is looking forward to the next role, “I’m an East Ender and it was a big show for us growing up. Everybody I’ve told I’m doing this has got really excited.”

Colin tied the knot with Irish artist and illustrator Fiona Hawthorne in 1988 and the couple live in West London with their four children Rudi, Eden, Sasha and Ben.

Although Fiona was born in Ireland, she works in London as an artist where Colin now works on the BBC soap.

Following in her father’s musical footsteps (Colin can sing and play the trumpet, and is currently part of a jazz quartet) Colin and Fiona’s eldest daughter Rudi is a well-known soul singer.

Taking into account, Colin’s critically acclaimed film roles and musical endeavours which he undertakes alongside his ambassadorship for King Charles’ the Prince’s Trust and other charities, the EastEnders newcomer has a net worth of $6 million.
