Although Paul Burrell played a key role in the life of Prince Harry’s late mother Princess Diana as he worked as her butler, there is clearly no love lost between Prince Harry, Prince William and Paul Burrell. In his witness statement yesterday, Prince Harry referred to him as a ‘two-face s***”

Prince Harry said the following about Paul Burrell in his statement: “Both my brother and I had very strong feelings about how indiscreet Paul had proven to be with the way he had sold our mother's possessions and how he had given numerous interviews about her. We firmly believed that she would have expected some privacy in death, especially from someone she had trusted and we were so upset at the way he was behaving- I didn’t want to hear his reasons for it. Therefore, our disagreement over how to handle the situation going forward was not something I wanted splashed across the Defendant’s newspapers, and I had no idea how the Defendant’s journalists obtained the information with the article.”

According to The Evening Standard, The Duke of Sussex was challenged over discrepancies between his autobiography Spare and his hacking trial witness statement over whether he wanted to meet ex-royal butler Paul Burrell, whom he admitted branding a ‘two-faced s***t. Harry agreed he would have used the phrase to describe Mr Burrell, with the words appearing in a 2003 article in The People newspaper.”

Paul Burrell has claimed in the past that when it came to Princess Diana, he was ‘the only man she ever trusted.’ He also has referred to himself as her ‘best friend’ too. Paul Burrell joined the household of King Charles, then Prince Charles and Princess Diana at Highgrove House in 1987 and later became Princess Diana’s butler until her death in 1997,

In 1997, Paul Burrell decided to take part in season four of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here and this year returned to the show when he took part in the’ I’m A Celebrity All Stars’ in South Africa version that was filmed in 2022. He revealed that it was thanks to a medical check-up ahead of appearing in the series that led to his eventual prostate cancer diagnosis.

When he appeared on Lorraine, he said:: I’m so grateful to ITV for  picking me to do the jungle because, without that, I would still be sat here today not knowing I had cancer, and then I had to go down the path of treatment.”
