Who is the actor playing Prince Harry in Sky News’ reconstruction of his time at London’s High Court?

If you’ve not been following Peopleworld’s coverage of Harry’s time in the London high court over the past two days, we’d probably bet that you’ve instead been tuned into Sky News and their coverage of the phone hacking case. But because cameras and recording equipment have been banned from the courtroom, the broadcaster has taken a novel approach regarding some of the testimony Harry gave.

Sky News have gone to the lengths of recreating moments during Harry’s time in the witness box, and employed an actor to play the Duke of Sussex, who has recited key moments when Harry delivered his responses during both his cross-examination by Andrew Green KC and re-examination by David Sherborne. 

It has led to some on social media, and especially us at Peopleworld, to wonder who this actor is, who no doubt will be memed for months to come, but has had more than a guest appearance on Sky News and, for some actors, making the most of his primetime moment. So who is playing the version of Harry that had his moment in the high court over the past two days?

Well that would be Laurence Dobiesz, who is also a writer and voiceover artist who trained at Oxford School of Drama. His acting credits include plays with the RSC and Chichester Festival Theatres. He has voiced campaigns for Xero and Johnson Controls, and in 2018 he won an AudioFile Earphones Award for his narration of The Winter Soldier. Laurence was one of the original team of actors on BBC Radio 4’s remount of What the Papers Say.

But well trained eyes that look past the gruff facial hair Dobiesz has donned to portray Harry might have spotted the actor on the small screen as Alexander Randall in Outlander, while also having supporting roles in films Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, Testament of Youth and the 2016 Dad’s Army reboot.

Though there is not a great deal on public record about his life, a number of sources have claimed his net worth is that of $2 million USD, and sadly if you’re looking for a Harry-like man in your life, we’re afraid that he is married. To whom? Another face you may be familiar with from the small screen - one time The Thick Of It regular Olivia Poulet.

We eagerly await his inclusion in any subsequent series of Netflix’s The Crown in the near future, but until then, we’ll enjoy any memes in good humour. It’s been a heck of a 15 minutes for the actor, we’ll sure you’ll agree.
