Nicolas Cage and Nicholas Hoult set to star in new 2023 Dracula film ‘Renfield’ - but who else will join them?

Awkwafina, Ben Schwartz and Brandon Scott Jones also star in the horror/monster movie

They say that a vampire cannot enter your home unless you invite them in, so the new Dracula movie ‘Renfield’ is sure to be welcomed when it releases later this year.

A trailer has been released showing an insight into the upcoming horror/monster movie starring Nicolas Cage as the infamous Dracula and Nicholas Hoult in the titular role, as Renfield looks to ‘see if there’s a life outside the shadow of 'The Prince of Darkness’.

Set to get the blood pumping, Renfield looks to be a mix of comedy, action and some partial gore as Rick and Morty’s Ryan Ridley puts a modern spin on Bram Stoker’s 1897 monster tale, when Dracula’s long-lasting servant tries to end their ‘toxic relationship’.

To help Nicholas and Nicolas settle their differences, a star studded crew joins the world of Renfield:

Nicolas Cage

While known professionally as Nicolas Cage, Nicolas Kim Coppola was born into an Italian-American family of filmmakers in Long Beach, California and has since won various accolades including an Academy Award, a Golden Globe and a SAGA.

Nicolas credited his passion for acting from an early age wanting to be ‘James Dean’ and went to study at Beverly Hills High School and UCLA before making his acting debut in 1981.

In his four decade career, Nicholas has starred in movies such as Leaving Las Vegas, The Wicker Man, National Treasure and Kick-Ass, as well as set up his own production company called Saturn Films.

Nicolas has been married five times, most recently tying the knot with Riko Shibata in February 2021, and has three children.

Nicholas Hoult

English actor Nicholas Hoult was inspired to act from his three siblings who had a similar passion for the art in addition to dance, and managed to secure parts in productions from the age of three.

Originally wanting to pursue A Levels in English, Biology and Psychology, Nicholas turned his focus to acting at the age of 12 to attend Sylvia Young Theatre School after starring in Chris and Paul Weitz’s About a Boy with Hugh Grant.

Nicholas’ rise to prominence in the UK was secured after clinching the lead role in the television series Skins, before finding international fame through Mad Max Fury Road, X-Men and Warm Bodies.

Nicholas has also got credits in multiple independent films and dedicates his time outside of acting to philanthropic work, supporting charities such as the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children and the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Awkwafina

Finding fame as a comedic supporting actor in films Ocean’s 8, Crazy Rich Asians and Jumanji: The Next Level, Awkwafina is a rapper and comedian who also gained prominence in 2012 when her rap song ‘My Vag’ became popular on YouTube.

Real name Nora Lum, became the first woman of Asian descent to win a Golden Globe in a Best Actress category for her role in The Farewell, while simultaneously getting nominations for Critics Choice and BAFTAs.

Following her rise to success, Awkwafina created a Comedy Central series called Awkwafina is Nora from Queens and continued to take on roles in both animation and Hollywood movies namely Raya and the Last Dragon and Marvel’s Shang-Chi.

Awkwafina is also classically trained in music and jazz after learning to play the trumpet from a young age.

Ben Schwartz

Ben Schwartz is most well known for his guest starring role in NBC’s sitcom Parks and Recreation as well as playing the lead in House of Lies, but has numerous other credits to his name - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Sonic the Hedgehog, Space Force and the Afterparty.

Both an actor and a comedian, Ben Schwartz has also co-written four books, three with Amanda McCall and one with Laura Moses.

In addition to starring in the upcoming Renfield movie, Ben Schwartz is rumoured to play Ellis in the Die Hard television reboot.

The film will be released on April 14, 2023.
