As expected there have been plenty of reactions to Phillip Schofield’s statement yesterday. In it, he said the following: “I did have a consensual on-off relationship with a younger male colleague at This Morning. Contrary to speculation, whilst I met the man when he was a teenager and was asked to help him to get into television, it was only after he started to work on the show that it became more than just a friendship. That relationship was unwise, but not illegal. It is now over.”

Eamonn Holmes expressed his reaction to this statement on Twitter and said:”Ruth (Eamonn’s wife Ruth Langsford) and I deceived and lied to. One day I will tell the story. We had no issue with him being Gay, only support. What transpired took us for fools. The man told us complete lies and we unfortunately believed him.”

Eamonn went on to say that “Schofield has finally been caught out… But he’s not the only guilty party. 4 high members of itv management knew what sort of man he was… and never once took action to prevent him controlling or taking advantage of his position over young people.”

This is of course not the first time Eamonn Holmes has spoken out about his former colleague Phillip Schofield. According to The Mirror, “Eammon discussed his reported ‘feud’ between Phil and Holly Willougby on his GB News show on Monday. He told co-host Isabel Webster: “Holly knows the truth, the story is with her.”

Although Eamonn, and his wife Ruth worked on This Morning and both worked in the television industry for many years, relations reportedly deteriorated between the pair in 2019 when Ruth Langsford made a formal complaint about Phillip Schofield’s behaviour on set.

According to The Sun, “Ruth was cut off mid-link by Philip while she was sharing what was coming up on Loose Women” The Sun goes on to say that “Unimpressed by his interruption, Ruth turned away and said to the Loose Women panel: ‘Well I only had about two more words to day.’

Since 2019, the relationship appears to have only got worse, and in 2021, Eamonn and Ruth were told they were no longer wanted for the Friday slot on This Morning, whilst Holly and Phillip stayed on.

Eamonn appears not to be a fan of Holly Willoughby either and said: “Oh, the couch will not be the same without him being there. Well she wanted him not there, So What is she moaning about? They deserve each other I suppose.”

It will be interesting to see if Eamonn voices an opinion on Holly’s return to This Morning, she is set to return to the sofa on June 5. Judging by his previous comments, he is likely not to keep his opinions to himself.
