'I’m A Celebrity': Lioness Jill Scott tipped to be 'Queen of the Jungle' as she brings girl power to ITV

Although the saying goes, ‘Lion is the King of the Jungle,’ fans are betting that a Lioness will be crowned Queen of the Jungle on this year’s I’m A Celebrity.

Former English football player Jill Scott is continuing to inspire and entertain ITV audiences as the Sunderland-born sportswoman appears on our screens every night at 9pm.

And while Jill may play midfield on pitch, she looks to be a frontrunner to win the show as the odds are tipped at 11/10 currently.

The 35-year-old appeared alongside another favourite for the 2022 winner in the Busktucker trial ‘Speak Un-Easy’ on Sunday night [20 November], as former rugby player Mike Tindall won 10 stars for camp with Jill.

The former professionals got into the sporting mindset as they finished drinks such as blended vomit fruit, blended snails and blended Huntsman spiders.

Despite the pair’s focus, Jill tried to distract her campmate and herself from the disgusting beverages including cockroaches and fish eyes, with some humorous lines saying: “Let’s pretend we are in a bar, so do you come here often? Yeah, it’s a good date this.”

Another great one-liner that Jill delivered was when she checked out her drink of blended goat’s testicle, when she said: “Agh, it’s got hairs in it. Could have had a wax before.”

Throughout the first two weeks in the jungle, Jill has been praised for her candour.

For example, when she quipped to camp leader MP Matt Hancock whether his camp rules were in fact ‘guidelines or rules’ in relation to the former health secretary’s infamous affair scandal. Matt did not get off ‘Scott-free.’

The Lioness showed some serious fearlessness on Thursday night's episode too [17 November] when a medic had to pull a cockroach out of her ear after it was lodged following a Bushtucker trial.

Jill is not one to shy away from opening up about her personal life on the show as she spoke about her fiancee Shelly Unitt and their shared Manchester cafe called Boxx2Boxx and also spoke candidly about her embarrassing moment when she turned up at the wrong interview for Vodafone.

Perhaps one of the most endearing moments was when Jill discussed her road to becoming a Lioness and her passion for the sport, inciting 'girl power'.

She told Charlene White and A Place in the Sun host Scarlette Douglas, who have now both left the jungle: “I had loads of energy as a kid. Even my grandma said on my Christening day, my legs were [kicking about] the whole time. My grandma reckoned she said, ‘she’s going to be a footballer’ and I was about four-months-old or something.”

The Lioness continued to open up by admitting that while kids accepted Jill as a footballer, adults were less inviting. She said: “If I beat their precious son, they’d shout stuff at us. Like ‘kick her, hack her down…’ I’d come off the pitch literally in tears.”

Jill’s story inspired many including fellow campmate Charlene White who revealed to Jill and Scarlette that her daughter now plays football alongside the boys, in addition to the fantastic statistic that since 2017, the number of women’s football teams have doubled in the UK.

Needless to say, Jill’s can-do attitude, candour and charisma is putting her in good stead to head to the final of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!
