The Cheltenham Festival kicked off yesterday as thousands of horse racing fans arrived for day one of the racing event. The four events will see people all over the country flock to the Gloucestershire area and watch the races leading up to the Cheltenham Gold Cup, which concludes the festival this Friday.

Royals and celebrities were spotted among the crowds including Princess Anne, who is a regular attendee, and daughter Zara Tindall, who was seen with her husband Mike Tindall, sports TV presenter Natalie Pinkham and close friend Dolly Maude.

Carol Vorderman shared an image on social media enjoying herself with her celebrity pals  pop-idol star Gareth Gates, comedian Jack Whitehall and former Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond. The TV personality was also seen laughing with former Health secretary Matt Hancock and his girlfriend businesswoman Gina Coladangelo.

Which will come as a shock to fans as the former countdown host has openly shared her dislike for him. She later shared a video to her Twitter account explaining that she wasn’t ‘cosying up’ to Matt and Gina and the whole thing was a ‘setup’ as she was just “trying to be polite”.

Another regular attendee was Made in Chelsea star Georgia Toffolo. He shared an image of herself enjoying the sunshine and Guinness. This Morning chef Clodagh McKenna, TV presenter and model Rosie Tapner and legendary Rugby player Phil Vickery all attended day one of the festival. Racing presenter and ex-Love Islander Chris Hughes commented on the event for ITV Racing.
