After Prince Harry loses challenge to pay for security, will we not see him at any more royal events?

For months it was all about ‘will Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’ attend the King’s coronation. Once Prince Harry confirmed he was attending alone, the attention turned to exactly where he would be sitting. 

For those of you who thought once Prince Harry returned to Montecito for his son Prince Archie’s fourth birthday, he and Meghan Markle would opt for a quieter few months, you were sadly mistaken! After Meghan Markle stepped out in a Johanna Ortiz gold dress to collect her Woman Of Vision Award, she, Prince Harry and her mother Doria Ragland were reportedly involved in a ‘near catastrophic car chase.’

Following the ‘car chase’ the couple’s private secretary Ashley Hansen told Sky News: “I have never experienced their vulnerability as much as I did last night. They were incredibly scared and shaken up.” She went on to say that “There were several times where the car stopped and security got out. There were instances where the police confronted the paparazzi and had asked them to stop or give them space, to do this safely.”

Although there have been reports that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ‘exaggerated’ the car chase, Ashley Hansen adamantly refuted these claims and told The Times the following: “Respectfully; considering the Duke’s family history, one would have to think nothing of the couple or anybody associated with them to believe this was any sort of P.R. stunt. Quite frankly, I think that’s abhorrent.”

Now that Prince Harry has lost his challenge to pay for police protection in the UK, he is bound to be feeling a myriad of emotions, including disappointment and anger. Although he made the decision to come to the UK to show his support for his father, King Charles, at the momentous occasion of his coronation, it appeared that the deep friction between him and his older brother Prince William has only deepened. 

Prince Harry arrived alone for the coronation, without his wife Meghan for support, and sat two rows behind his brother Prince William. He also did not appear on the balcony after the ceremony and although he reportedly made a brief stop at Buckingham Palace before jetting back to the States, he did not see anyone from the royal family there. 

Now that he has lost his challenge, will Prince Harry feel even less inclined to return to the UK to see his father and brother in the near future? Although he is due back at the High Court  in the UK in June, it is unlikely that he will attend The King’s Birthday Parade (Trooping the Colour), which will take place on 17 June 2023.
