Although Prince Harry is not due to give evidence in the High Court until tomorrow, the court case has begun today, with his barrister David Sherborne discussing his relationship with former girlfriend, Chelsy Davy. According to Sky News, “Newspaper articles revealed the ‘ups and downs, ins and outs’ of their time together (Prince Harry and Chelsy Davy), Mr Sherborne says, with details of their relationship ‘revealed and picked apart by all three Mirror group newspapers.”

Sky News goes on to say that Mr Sherborne says that the “stories were ‘punctuated with tell tale signs of ‘unlawful activity,’ which started with the use of private investigators to identify her when she was first seen with him in Argentina in 2004. A further article detailed a meeting between the Duke and Ms Davy’s father.”

Prince Harry and Chelsy Davy started dating in 2004 and are reported to have met when Prince Harry was travelling around Australia and Argentina during the two gap years he had after leaving Eton College. During their time together, she accompanied Prince Harry to the wedding of his cousin Peter Phillips to Autumn Kelly in May 2008, as well as attending many other family gatherings with him. Chelsy also went to King Charles’s 60th birthday which was held at Highgrove with Prince Harry.

Although Prince Harry and Chelsy Davy’s on and off relationship ended back in 2010, it clearly had a profound effect on him as she is mentioned on more than one occasion in his memoir, Spare. “I’d always wanted to know what it might be like to meet a woman and not have her eyes widen at the mention of my title but instead to widen them myself, using my mind, my heart,” Harry said. “With Chelsy, that seemed a real possibility. Not only was she uninterested in my title, she seemed bored by it. ‘Oh you’re a prince? Yawn.”

Sky News has also reported that Prince Harry’s barrister “Mr Sherborne says Harry was ‘little more than a child’ at the time of his relationship with Ms Davy and they had felt as if they were never on their own. This ultimately led to Ms Davy deciding to break things off with Harry as she felt ‘royal life was not for her,’ Mr Sherborne says-something that was ‘incredibly upsetting’ for the prince at the time."

Both Prince Harry’s former girlfriends Chelsy Davy and Cressida Bonas attended Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle in 2018. Chelsy is now married to Sam Cutmore-Scott and has a baby boy called Leo. In October last year, she shared a photograph of her son looking out to sea from what looks like a photograph taken on holiday. She simply captioned the photograph with a blue heart emoji.
