Chart-topping singer-songwriter Rihanna, who has amassed 14 number-one songs, is to make a return to music after six years away.

Marvel Studios have shared an animated teaser for the blockbuster Black Panther sequel Wakanda Forever, and Rihanna is releasing a single for the soundtrack. The film is out in November 2022.

Fans are delighted as the singer has not released her own music since 2016, when she brought out Anti - her last album.

Rihanna has been working on business ventures since 2017 and had a baby boy with her boyfriend A$AP Rocky in May 2022. Her Fenty Beauty line and Savage x Fenty lingerie brand have turned the 34-year-old into a billionaire.

Rihanna's last album 'Anti' featured the hit single 'Work' which featured Drake. The song reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and stayed there for nine weeks.

Her new upcoming single is titled 'Lift Me Up' and will form part of the soundtrack for the film scheduled for release on November 11.

The 'Rude Boy' singer co-wrote the song with Nigerian singer Tems, producer Ludwig Goransson, and 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever' director Ryan Coogler.

According to a media statement, the artists penned the single 'as a tribute to the extraordinary life and legacy of Chadwick Boseman'.

Although Rihanna has not released her own music since 2016, she has actively featured on other artists' songs in recent years.

She collaborated with Future on 'Selfish', N.E.R.D on 'Lemon', and featured on DJ Khaled's smash hit 'Wild Thought' which heavily sampled Santana's 'Maria Maria'.

In addition, the singer has also recently featured on Kendrick Lamar's 'Loyalty', and on PartyNextDoor's 'Believe It'. She also co-starred in her beau A$AP Rocky's music video for 'D.M.B' where some fans are convinced it was announced that the pair are engaged.

In other big news for the pop star, it was announced earlier this year that Rihanna will headline the halftime show at Super Bowl LVII.
