After Beyoncé and Taylor Swift announced they were returning with tours after seven and five years respectively, people were left wondering if the ‘only girl in the world’ will make a comeback to the global stage.

It is definitely the year for comebacks, as made evident by the Queen Bey’s Renaissance World Tour and Madonna’s 40-year celebration. The foundations have been laid for Rihanna.

Rihanna has not performed since the Grammy Awards in 2018 when she joined DJ Khaled for their collaboration, ‘Wild Thoughts’ and has not been on tour for a further two years before that.

In her time away, Rihanna has launched her Savage x Fenty make up and fashion brand, starred in movies, become a billionaire, and also started a family when she welcomed her son with ASAP Rocky in May 2022.

So when the announcement came that the Barbadian singer would be returning to the stage at none other than the 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show, fans were absolutely ecstatic wondering, ‘where have you been?’

While the performance and American football game will take place in Arizona, United States, both musical and sporting fans this side of the pond can watch the event from the comfort of their own homes.

You can watch Rihanna on the Sky Sports NFL Channel from 2pm or 10.45pm on ITV and see exclusive content on Channel 5 from 10.30pm, or even listen to match commentary on TalkSport or BBC Radio 5.

However, Rihanna is putting in the ‘work’ as there is an expectation that the Grammy-Award winner will announce a full comeback with a global tour nearly a decade after her ‘Anti’ tour in 2016, as well as creating new music.

An insider said: "She has her North American dates ready to announce for 2023 after the Super Bowl and it will be a matter of time before European dates are announced for 2024. Her plan is to set up mini residencies in major cities rather than visit multiple places."

Fans were encouraged to spot the 34-year-old singer and businesswoman in the studio following her son’s birth and to hear the news about her upcoming performances and potential tour. They may have to soak this in as much as they can as the insider added her ‘global outing will be swift and easy’ as Rihanna plans to focus on Savage x Fenty after her ‘brief return’ to music.

Although Rihanna’s return may be brief, we are all keeping our eyes peeled for an announcement.
