P!nk has taken to Twitter to clear up comments made during a recent interview regarding her working relationship with fellow pop star Christina Aguilera. The So What singer, 43, was interviewed by Buzzfeed as they rounded up a list of the best P!nk music videos throughout her career, when the topic of 2001’s Lady Marmalade, featuring Maya, L’il Kim and Missy Elliot, came up.

Speaking to Sam Cleal about the video shoot, P!nk was quick to talk about who she got along with during the shoot - “Kim and Mya were nice,” but did not mention her other collaborator for the song, Christina Aguilera. This prompted social media users to believe there was beef between the pair during the shoot - leading to P!nk taking to social media to clear the air.

“Y’all are nuts” she Tweeted, “Xtina had s**t to do with who was on that song. If you don’t know by now- I’m not “shading” someone by telling it over and over and over what actually happened. I’m zero percent interested in your f***ing drama.”

She followed this up with one more Tweet that simply read “Also- I kissed Xtina[‘]s mouth," P!nk concluded about the music video. "I don’t need to kiss her a**.”

The resurrection of such a beef between P!nk and Christina Aguilera can be traced back to an interview she gave during a VH1 Behind The Music special in 2009, in which discussion about covering Patti Labelle’s soul track for Baz Luhrmann’s film, Moulin Rouge. Speaking to VH1, P!nk was quoted as saying “[Label executive] Ron Fair walked in. He didn’t say hi to any of us and said, ‘What’s the high part? What’s the most singing part? Christina’s going to take that part.”

“And I stood up, and I said ‘Hi. How are you? So nice of you to introduce yourself. I’m P!nk. She will not be taking that part. I think that’s what the f***ing meeting’s about.”

“I’m an alpha, she’s an alpha.”

Stories of the troubled filming for 2001’s Lady Marmalade have now resurfaced after P!nk’s recent comments to Buzzfeed. In an interview with Christina Aguilera on a 2019 episode What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the Dirty singer cleared up rumours that she did not take a swing at P!nk but that the recording session was tense. “She [P!nk] was heckling me in the audience a little bit behind the director. I was like, ‘Oh, What’s going on?’ But that’s what she did back then."

"She’s a different person now," Aguilera added. "She’s a mom. She’s cool."

Two years before Aguilera’s appearance on Andy Cohen’s show though, P!nk again spilled tea regarding the filming of Lady Marmalade, stating that Aguilera "swung at me in a club" but put the energy down to the cutthroat nature of the female music scene during the late ‘90s and early ‘00s.

“We were super young and super new at the whole thing, and I think I’m an alpha, and she’s an alpha," P!nk admitted to Andy Cohen. "I’m used to taking my altercations physical and she’s used to having them verbal. We’re just very different, we’re very different. And we were very young and new. You have to learn — women have to learn how to support each other," she added. "It’s not taught to each other in the playground."

P!nk had been very vocal throughout her musical career about the media-constructed rivalries with Christina Aguilera and Brittney Spears to sell newspapers and get clicks. “I love Britney — she used to carry around my album," P!nk told People in 2021. "I was like, ‘Dude, I’m a street punk, I just skateboard. That doesn’t have to be the anti-Britney. I don’t want to fight anybody.”

Absent from that proclamation though, once again - Christina Aguilera.

For her part, Aguilera has yet to comment on P!nk’s latest episode throwing shade on what seems to be an unpleasant experience nearly 12 years ago.
