If there's a strong woman running her own show and making millions then you can reliably expect Piers Morgan, former tabloid editor and current-presenter of TalkTalk, to attempt to bring her down with some baseless words.

The woman to face Morgan's ire this time is Madonna. That's right, the style icon and best-selling female recording artist of all time.

She is the most successful solo artist in the history of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart and has achieved the most number-one singles by a woman in Australia, Canada, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom. She doesn't need anyone to defend her, she's a powerful figure.

Piers, however, has shown he continues his war of words on any woman who looks a good bet for publicity. Writing this article now, is, in fact, playing to what Morgan craves. All publicity is good publicity, he may think, and many would believe.

But Morgan has been slammed by critics for remarks he’s made about Madonna ahead of her 40th anniversary tour, with his comments labelled ‘misogynistic’ and ‘sexist’.

On Wednesday January 18 during an episode of the broadcaster’s TalkTV show, he took several moments to express his aversion to the Vogue singer, and the way in which she announced her upcoming worldwide tour.

The 64-year-old revealed the news in a video featuring A-list stars including Jack Black and Amy Schumer, in which the group played a NSFW game of truth or dare.

Ahead of the latest instalment of Piers Morgan Uncensored, the 57-year-old tweeted: ‘I think Madonna’s become the biggest cringe-making fiasco in world entertainment.’

On the programme, he expressed his view that Madonna was a ‘hot mess’ who ‘should be put out to pasture’, while slating her for doing ‘the whole trying to be a sex kitten thing when you’re in your 60s’.

"She’s iconic, she’s one of the biggest pop stars ever, you just don’t like her," said Louis Walsh, 70, the music manager and presenter, who appeared on his show.

Meanwhile, Piers suggested that she should do the shows while sitting in a rocking chair, much to Louis’ shock.'

'I think this is unnecessarily cruel and I would like to think Madonna is a bigger person than to care for such drivel,' someone else said in response to Piers on Twitter.

Another person on the social media platform called for the broadcaster to 'apologise for your misogynistic remarks about Madonna tonight calling her a 'sweaty mess''.

The TalkTV presenter claimed that he would speak the same about older male musicians, another Twitter user stated: ‘Would you say that about Mick Jagger or Rod Stewart etc…’

The truth is, while Piers does have a lot of critical words for male celebrities, they are never limiting in terms of what the man can or should do. He uses limiting comments for Madonna as he doesn't find her alluring.

Women often reach peak confidence and knowledge in their 50s and 60s and beyond. Piers just doesn't have the insight to see the true worth of a female beyond the societal currency often placed on the youthfulness of a woman.

Piers has a long history of unsavoury views on women. His pet-project of bringing down the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, is well documented.

Morgan’s own colleagues were seemingly so disappointed in the way he’s appeared to persistently demonise Markle, including saying that he 'did not believe' her disclosure that she had suicidal thoughts, that fellow presenter Alex Beresford challenged him over 'trashing her' – and Morgan stormed off set in 2021 on GMB.

Madonna's legacy will live on far beyond her time on this mortal coil. The same cannot be said for Piers.
