I think one can safely assume that most people would not relish running into the partner of their ex out and about, but it would seem that this is definitely not the case when it comes to Katy Perry and Miranda Kerr.

Miranda Kerr shares a son with her former husband Orlando Bloom, who is now in a relationship with Katy Perry (the couple have a daughter together). Although Miranda and Katy are known to have a good relationship, it would seem that the pair most definitely have a stronger friendship than most realised.

Not only were Katy Perry and Miranda Kerr happy to pose on the G’Day USA Arts Gala red carpet in Los Angeles, but Katy also presented Miranda with the Excellence in the Arts Award. In the speech, Katy said: “Many of you may be confused as to why I’m presenting Miranda with this award. It doesn’t fit the ex-wife, new wife narrative. Many in the media would like to see us mud wrestle..but this is about love, and Miranda is love.”

Katy then went on to say the following: “I’m so grateful for our modern blended family. It’s like I gained another sister, one with whom I usually sidebar from the main family chat and agree with.”

The awards ceremony was not the first time Katy and Miranda have talked about their admiration for one another.

The pair spoke about their relationship and both being mothers when they went on Instagram Live in April 2021. “One of the great things about being close to Miranda is I get to try out all her products, especially when her son comes home with them in his backpack,” Kate said.

Although the Katy Perry/Miranda Kerr ‘friendship’ may appear unusual to the outside world, it would seem that this is much more common in Hollywood than one would think. Here are a couple of examples of A-list ‘blended’ family friendships

Demi Moore and Emma Heming

Demi Moore and Emma Heming, the wife of Demi’s ex husband Bruce Willis, are most certainly blended family friendship goals! Over the years, the pair have often paid tribute to one another. Even when Bruce Willis and Emma decided to renew their wedding vows, they wanted Demi there as she plays such an important role in their lives.

In March 2022, Demi and Emma came together with Demi and Bruce’s daughters to release a joint statement about Bruce Willis’ struggle with aphasia. Last December, the pair came together again once more with their ‘blended family’ at Christmas. Demi Moore shared an Instagram post and captioned it:: “We are FAMILY!”

Gwyneth Paltrow and Dakota Johnson

Gwyneth Paltrow and Dakota Johnson (now dating Gwyneth Paltrow’s ex husband Chris Martin), are another great example of a positive ‘blended family.’

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar magazine, Gwyneth revealed how much she adores Dakota. “I love her,” she said. “I can see how it would seem weird because it’s sort of unconventional. But I think, in this case, having just passed through it iteratively, I just adore her.”
