The most controversial pick of 2023 had been a child actor. Many had labelled the inclusion of 12-year old actor Ryan Kiera Armstrong for her role in Firestarter, as completely unnecessary.

And now they've been forced to remove Armstrong from the Razzies list as backlash mounted.

Why pick a child who is clearly very talented to be selected for huge roles and who is still developing as a person? Utterly bonkers. There are so many adults to choose from, there's no need to go low and pick a child performer.

In a recent statement (via Variety), Razzies founder John Wilson issued a public apology to Armstrong, confirming her removal from the 'final ballot'

He additionally noted: "Having learned from this lesson, we would also like to announce that, from this point forward, we are adopting a Voting Guideline precluding any performer or film-maker under 18 years of age from being considered for our awards.

"We have never intended to bury anyone’s career. It is why our Redeemer Award was created. We all make mistakes, very much us included," Wilson said.

Are you concerned that Tom Hanks has a reputation for being infallible? Fear not, the Razzies have nominated Tom for his terrible accent and the questionable portrayal overall of Colonel Tom Parker, the infamously exploitative manager of Elvis Presley in the biopic of the singer's life.

The Golden Raspberry Awards (the formal name for the Razzies) celebrate the best of the worst in cinema. In keeping with its history the 'winners' are announced the day before the Academy Awards ceremony which this year is March 11 as the Oscars will be handed out on March 12.

Ana plays Marilyn Monroe in the biopic Blonde and although she is not nominated by herself she is nominated for worst screen couple, alongside her co-star Caspar Phillipson, who plays John F Kennedy. The film itself is nominated eight times under various categories, including: worst picture, worst remake/ripoff or sequel, worst director and worst screenplay.

He isn't nominated this year but Sylvester Stallone is the king of the Razzies, for better or worse. He's been nominated for Worst Actor a whopping 15 times and for Worst Supporting Actor three times for good measure.

Nobody comes close to Sly's total; he was also named Worst Actor of the Decade for the '90s.

Sandra Bullock won the Golden Raspberry ("Razzie") Award for Worst Actress for the film All About Steve, and appeared at the event to claim her prize, becoming only the second actress to accept the award in person, after Halle Berry in 2005.

Three people won both a Razzie and an Oscar the same weekend: composer Alan Menken in 1993, screenwriter Brian Helgeland in 1997, and actress Sandra Bullock in 2010, though all three won for different films (for example, Helgeland won a Razzie for The Postman and an Oscar for L.A. Confidential). Sandra Bullock won her Oscar for The Blind Side.
