Nepo-baby Apple Martin makes the perfect debut at Paris Fashion Week

Nepo babies alert, there is a newbie who has just stolen your thunder. Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s daughter Apple Martin has just made a sensational fashion-world debut at the Chanel spring-summer 2023 couture show in Paris.

Sitting alongside actresses Lucy Boynton, and Sadie Sink in the front row, it is fair to say that nobody could take their eyes off Apple. She looked incredible in what one can only describe as a typically ‘Chanel,’ outfit, a checked black and white mini dress in boucle tweed. So Chanel!

It would seem that until the Chanel show, Apple Martin had kept a relatively low profile existence (as low profile as possible when you have A-list parents). However, her debut in the front row at Chanel’s fashion show during Paris Fashion Week might be heralding a new more public era for the 18-year old.

Whether she likes it or not, Apple Martin looks unmistakably like her mother Gwyneth, who used to be a regular at Chanel couture shows herself. As Glamour magazine revealed: “The 18-year-old has her mom’s same blonde hair styled in a middle part and added a punky twist to the look with heavy kohl eyeliner, which echoed the makeup Paltrow wore for the Oscars in 2002 (these days, the Goop founder prefers to go bare-faced).”

According to Marie Claire, “it’s not often you’re told by the master of womenswear (Karl Largefeld) that you’re destined to be a Chanel girl, but according to fashion writer Derek Blasberg that’s exactly what happened to a young Apple.”

Derek Blasberg wrote on Twitter: “Karl Lagerfeld met Apple Martin when she was 4-years-old and declared that one day she’d be a Chanel girl. It happened today!” He followed the tweet with an emoji of an apple, a heart and the French flag.

Although Apple Martin is only 18-years-old, it will be interesting to see how she is able to navigate and even overcome the ‘nepo baby’ tag that she unfortunately can’t disassociate herself with at present. After all, she wouldn’t be in the front row of the Chanel show if she didn’t have famous parents.

However, she might very well follow in the footsteps of highly successful ‘nepo babies’ such as Hailey Bieber who even playfully wore a ‘Nepo Baby’ T-shirt to clapback at the recent drama over the ‘words of the moment.’
