When Lady Gaga was asked by Harper's Bazaar magazine if she keeps the clothes she has worn over the years, she said: “The fashion I’ve acquired over the years is so sacred to me - from costumes to couture, high fashion to punk wear I’ve collected from my secret international hotspots.”

Although Lady Gaga is renowned for her incredible singing talent, and in recent years, her acting performances, she has without question, established herself as an avant-garde fashion icon. Not only can she pull off the most theatrical and some would say ‘over the top’ outfits, but she can also wow in the most sophisticated of dresses too.

PeopleWorld has picked out Lady Gaga’s most eye-catching outfits over the years.

Glastonbury 2009

Mirror Mirror on the wall definitely seemed to be the theme of Lady Gaga’s Glastonbury look back in 2009. She looked simply sensational in a very avant-garde mirrored mini dress, which she accessorised with a matching mask. Lady Gaga completed the look with black peep-toe boots and fishnet tights.

The Royal Variety Performance 2009

When Lady Gaga met the late Queen Elizabeth 11 at the Royal Variety Performance 2009, she certainly did not shy back when it came to her outfit. In fact, she did exactly the opposite and went for a red latex Atsuko Kudo dress. Lady Gaga told Vogue magazine at the time she “wanted to dress like a queen in a British fashion, and I also wanted to do it in my way.”

The BRIT Awards 2010

Although Lady Gaga won the award for Best International Album, Best International Breakthrough Act and Best International Female Solo Artist at the awards ceremony, it was without question, Lady Gaga’s outfit that attracted the most attention. She drew gasps of amazement in a Philip Treacy headpiece and a white Francesco Scognamiglio cape.

The Grammys 2010

Time magazine described Lady Gaga’s Armani Prive dress as a ‘sparkling intergalactic pre-ceremony red carpet look,’ and once again, Lady Gaga ensured nobody could take her eyes off her. She won that night for Best Dance Recording and Best Electronic/Dance Album, but she also won in terms of her outfit choice once again.

The Grammys 2011

Lady Gaga’s 2010 Grammys outfit was forgotten in a second when she arrived at the 2011 ceremony. The simple reason for this is that she arrived at the Grammys hidden in a giant egg. Yes, you read that correctly, in an egg!

Anyone who was lucky enough to have been at the Grammys 2011 would have then seen Lady Gaga emerge from the egg to perform the single Born This Way. Her outfit (when she emerged from the egg) was a gold cropped top and skirt and wore her hair similar to Madonna’s look on her Blonde Ambition tour era.

The Golden Globes 2016

Lady Gaga looked very ‘Marilyn Monroe’ at the Golden Globes in 2016 when she wore a black velvet Atelier Versace dress with diamond bracelets and cocktail earrings. Her retro blonde bob added to the overall ‘Marilyn’ style she adopted for the evening.

The Met Gala 2019

Four outfits in fifteen minutes is pretty spectacular, even by Lady Gaga’s standards. The singer and actress, who was the co-chair of the gala that year, worked with designer Brandon Maxwell on four incredible looks. She arrived in a hot pink gown with parachute skirt, then changed into an LBD (little black dress), before changing into another pink dress before unveiling her last look, a sequined bikini, glitter platform boots and fishnets.

The Oscars 2019

Lady Gaga’s elegant Alexander McQueen ‘Audrey Hepburn style’ black dress that she wore to The Oscars demonstrated that Lady Gaga is equally as adept at pulling off sophisticated looks as she is of nailing avant-garde styles. She also reportedly wore a 128.54 carat diamond from Tiffany & Co that had only been worn three times before at award ceremonies.

House of Gucci Los Angeles Premiere 2021

Although she was attending the Los Angeles Premiere for the House of Gucci in 2021, Lady Gaga did not opt for the designer label, but decided to wear Valentino instead. She dazzled (quite literally) in a floor length silver sequined dress by Valentino. The overall look was one word, breathtaking.

The Oscars 2023

If you think Lady Gaga is bored of making a statement when it comes to her outfits in 2023, think again. She turned up to the Oscars in March in a dress quite literally off the runway. She opted for a very sheer Versace dress that Gigi Hadid had worn days earlier when she opened the Versace FW23 runway show.
