Dua Lipa and Donatella Versace set to launch La Vacanza collection at Cannes Film Festival

There couldn't be a better way to launch a brand new fashion collaboration than at the Cannes Film Festival. It has the perfect sunny French Riviera as a backdrop and a whole host of celebrities enjoying the film festival ready to pop over the road and watch. 

Not long till you can get your hands on the summer collection. Dua Lipa has joined forces with Versace on their ‘La Vacanza’ collection - which translates to vacation. Both Dua and Donatella Versace have co-designed the womenswear range. 

The fashion show will be streamed live on their official Instagram account from 7pm CEST, May 23rd. The collection will be available in-store and at Versace.com immediately following the show.

Dua has become known for wearing the luxury label. Not just on the red carpet, she has worn Versace for photoshoots, catwalk shows, interviews and whilst performing live on stage. 

The ‘One Kiss’ singer wore a vintage Versace (from Autumn/Winter 1992) to the Grammys, opened and closed the Spring/Summer 2022 show in Milan and attended her first Met Gala wearing the brand. 

So it’s no surprise that the two fashion icons, Dua and Donatella, have become close friends over the years. The pair first met in London back in 2017 and since then Dua has become a permanent fixture on the front.

When the ‘La Vacanza’ collaboration was announced Donatella - CEO of the fashion label - told WWD “I have always been inspired by a collaborative design process. Working with Dua on this collection has been very exciting and I love the dynamic between us.”

Dua said that she too was “absolutely thrilled” to have co-designed the womenswear range. She went on to thank the designer for all the support she has received since the beginning of her career. 

The ‘New Rules’ songstress became the face of the luxury fashion label and brand ambassador when she posed for the Fall 2021 Campaign. Speaking of her muse to Paper, Donatella gushed, “I cannot think of a better woman to embody the spirit of Versace and of this collection."

Dua responded by saying “Getting to work so closely with Donatella and bonding over our shared love of fashion has been surreal.”

The fashion designer is always championing the singer, in a recent Instagram post the singer teased the release date (May 26 Midnight BST) for the song 'Dance the Night' from the new Barbie movie soundtrack. Donatella left a cute comment that simply read “She’s a Versace Barbie.”
