It is certainly a busy time in Hollywood at the moment, and is set to get even busier in the next week or so. The Green Carpet Fashion awards takes place on the 8 March (during Oscars week) and will be co-chaired by Cate Blanchett, Viola Davis, Tom Ford, Quannah Chasinghorse, Simu Liu and Tom Ford.

It is not surprising that both Cate Blanchett and Viola Davis are amongst the star names co-chairing the Green Carpet Fashion Awards. Both are incredibly eco-conscious individuals and have been championing sustainable fashion on the red carpet for many years.

Back in 2012, Viola Davis wore a Valentino gown  to the Baftas made of recycled plastic bottles. For the Baftas 2023, she wore a beautiful purple Stella McCartney dress.

According to Vogue, “True to McCartney’s responsible brand ethos, which is reflected in all the work that she does, the look is entirely eco-conscious.”

Cate Blanchett is another star who has been embracing sustainable fashion when it comes to her red carpet gowns. For this year’s SAG Awards, she chose a beautiful black lace Armani dress that she had first worn to the 18th Costume Designers Guild Awards in Los Angeles seven years ago.

For the Baftas 2023, Cate wore a Maison Margiela gown that she had first worn in 2015 for the Oscars.

As well as Cate Blanchett and Viola Davis as co-chairs of the Green Carpet Fashion Awards, the other co-chairs are designer Tom Ford, model Quannah Chasinghorse, and Marvel actor Simu Liu, According to The Hollywood Reporter, “The Green Fashion Awards (GCFA); led by Eco-Age founder Livia Firth, are uniting fashion and film with a new wave of sustainability in Hollywood.”

Livia Firth, who split from actor Colin Firth after 22 years of marriage last year, is the Co-founder and Creative Director of Eco-Age. According to their website, Livia “is renowned for creating compelling frameworks and campaigns for environmental and social justice with global reach.”
